3 Steps To Achieving Values – Happiness

Anyone who knows me, knows I tell long stories.  To truly understand anything, you must understand the context it’s in.

So before we get into the day to day awesomeness at the studio here on the blog, a little about where it all comes from…  In the last two posts I mentioned that My Purpose In Life is to be happy and that I believe Happiness Comes From 3 Things (gratitude, achievement of values and relationships).

In this post, I want to share with you my 3 steps to achieving values = happiness.

Step 1:  Figure out who you are and what you want

Living in a society that pushes answers of who we should be, how we should act, how we should look and what we should believe, while suppressing individuality and independence, most people go their whole lives without truly knowing themselves.

Before we can achieve our values, we must establish them first.

What do you value most?  Acceptance, safety, money, power, fame, family, health, happiness?  These can come in the form of “Likes” on FB/IG or a goal of losing 20 pounds.  Every decision you make in life should be based on your value system.  It is your moral obligation, to yourself and the universe, to make decisions based on what is best for you on the condition that it doesn’t come at anyone else’s expense.  In other words, if at any given moment you value time alone over going out with friends, you shouldn’t go out with friends for their sake.  Similarly, they should not expect you to go out with them for their own sake at your expense.

In a perfect world, everyone would only do what’s best for them without it coming at anyone else’s expense.  The result would be no one owing anyone anything and everyone being where they want, doing what they want, how they want and with who they want.

Moving on, assuming we have turned inward for answers to who we are, what we want and have established our values..

Step 2: How can you realistically achieve these values?

For the few of us who don’t look for answers outside of ourselves and establish our own values, we are now faced with figuring out how to achieve them.

This is no simple task and for those of us that dream big and value the difficult to attain, it can be daunting.

If you are fortunate enough to know who you are, what you want and now, how to achieve it, you’re left with the mother of ’em all..

Step 3: Resolving to DO what it takes

Million dollar ideas and dreams of greatness are a dime a dozen.  Everyone has them.  A fraction of those people can figure out a realistic way to achieve them.  Only a sliver of those will do whatever it takes to achieve their dreams/ideas/values without it coming at anyone else’s expense.

It’s step 3 that separates the successful from unsuccessful.  The happy from unhappy, assuming it was their highest values they achieved, not someone else’s.

Our lives, the human race and universe need us to stop living for others and looking for answers anywhere but within ourselves.  We need look inward, face ourselves and come to a place of inner peace.  It is only in that state that our true self will surface.  The manifestation of our “true self”, dreams and values is the greatest contribution to the universe as a whole.

The most common denominator of successful people, is they never gave up.

  • I do trust all the ideas you have presented in your post.
They’re very convincing and can definitely work.

Nonetheless, the posts are very quick for beginners.
May you please lengthen them a little from next time?
    Thanks for the post.
